Abstract:

Infertility is a major reproductive health concern in Ghana, with significant psychological and social implications for affected women. This study explores the experiences of women with infertility at Tamale Teaching Hospital, focusing on psychological distress (anxiety, depression, loneliness) and social challenges (stigma, marital instability, and societal pressure). A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with semi-structured interviews conducted among 15 women diagnosed with infertility. Findings indicate that infertility affects women's emotional well-being, self-esteem, and social relationships, often leading to isolation and discrimination. The study highlights the need for integrated psychological and social support systems in infertility management.
